Custom-made for Christy: Ladies Day.

This interview is with our wonderful client Christy, who we created a gorgeous custom-made dress for Fashions on the Field (Perth). Christy shares her inspiration for creating her dress and her experiences working with Kaye Teede.

Hi Christy, thanks so much for sharing you experience with us.

Firstly, was your event and when was it?

Geraldton Turf Club Ladies Day 2017. Fashions on the field was a regional heat for the Finals in Perth. Kaye and I have worked on many dresses together mainly for Fashions on the Field.

In your own words, could you tell us a little about your experience working with Kaye Teede ?

Working with Kaye is such an enjoyable process. From start to finish she makes everything so easy. Kaye listens to all my crazy ideas and makes it easy to bounce thoughts off. She always goes the extra mile often meeting me after hours or at fabric shops.

What design did you work with Kaye Teede to create?

Kaye and I met at a local Spotlight store where we spent time searching through various dressmakers’ patterns. From there we used a top of one dress pattern and a skirt from another pattern, combined them and made my dress.  This had been the process for all of the outfits Kaye had made for me.

Where did the vision/inspiration for this design come from?
For my Regional Heat outfit. I was determined to source everything locally within the mid-west. This leads me to Kaye. The fabric was purchased from a local store. It was a step-by-step process, with many changes made along the way. Once we found the patterned fabric I knew it was the perfect piece to base my outfit around.

What advice would you give to anyone looking to create their own dress or custom outfit for an event like FoF in the future?

I would say stay true to your own personal style and wear what you love. Enjoy the process of creating an outfit. Kaye makes it fun but is a true professional. She is extremely skilful and her garments last a lifetime. They are a true work of art.

Thank you to Christy for trusting us to bring your dream dress to life!
